St. Anne’s day is July 26
Anne’s Hebrew name is Hannah (The name “Hannah” means grace.)

- Quarterly meeting are held in January, April, July and October for all chair members (any one can come to those meetings).
- An annual meeting of all the women of the parish is encouraged to attend in March.
Sts Joachim and Ann, both of the tribe of Judah of the royal house of David, are venerated by the Church as the parents of Blessed Virgin Mary who was probably their only child. The other Mary mentioned in the Gospels as the sister of the Mother of God was, it is believed, her cousin; for this was a customary way of designating relatives in the East.
St. Ann has been honored from early Christian times. Churches were dedicated to her honor, and the Fathers, especially of the Eastern Churches, loved to speak of her sanctity and privileges. She is often represented as teaching her little daughter to read the Scriptures. Anne is the mother of Mary.
According to these sources, Anne was born in Bethlehem, Judaea. She married Joachim, and, although they shared a wealthy and devout life at Nazareth, they eventually lamented their childlessness. Joachim, reproached at the Temple for his sterility, retreated into the countryside to pray, while Anne, grieved by his disappearance and by her barrenness, solemnly promised God that, if given a child, she would dedicate it to the Lord’s service. Both received the vision of an angel, who announced that Anne would conceive and bear a most wondrous child.
Joachim and Ann had prayed that if they were blessed with a child, they would dedicate their child to God. While he was with the shepherds, an angel came to him and said, “Your wife will bear a daughter and you will call her Mary. She will be filled with the Holy Spirit from her mother’s womb.” At the same time, an angel appeared to Ann to give her the same news.
On July 26 the Roman Catholic Church commemorates the parents of the Virgin Mary, Saints Joachim and Anne. The couple’s faith and perseverance brought them through the sorrow of childlessness, to the joy of conceiving and raising the immaculate and sinless woman who would give birth to Christ.

Prayer to St. Anne
O God, You bestowed on St. Anne such grace that she was found worthy to become the mother of Mary, Who brought forth You only begotten son. Grant that we may be helped by her intercession.
